COLONIAL
CAPE

This beautifully restored 1746 Cape-style home is something truly special. Blending historic charm with thoughtful modern updates, careful attention was given to preserving its stunning original details. Boasting three restored fireplaces, and original hand hewn wood beams throughout, this home also features a traditional ‘Keeping Room’ - a nod to its rich history. Additional details include the stenciling in the primary bedroom which is over 100 years old, and the exposed chimney upstairs. In the adjacent barn, known as "The Rumpus Room,"  guests will find original built-in bunks, and timeless wood paneling that speak to the craftsmanship of centuries past. Outside the home, this 5.9 acre lot is an oasis with frontage on a natural pond, large apple and birch trees. Sunsets are special from the brand new screened porch.

BEFORE GALLERY

The recent renovation of our 1746 farmhouse is a stunning blend of history and modern design created by Home Comfort designer Alyssia Zevos and the expert craftsman of Native TimberWorks. The overseeing of the entire project by Luke Dupuis and Scott Elliott made us feel well taken care of while we negotiated these uncharted waters.

The plans to keep as much of the original house and incorporate elements back in to the overall design was done so strategically that it became seamless. Some of our favorite design elements are the floor from the keeping room placed on the walls in the screened porch, the original front door becoming a sliding door to the primary bath, the rebuild of the bunk beds in the barn, to name a few! The kitchen is also a standout feature which provides quality cabinets, great lighting, as well as plenty of workspace which is great for entertaining.

The design process was so enjoyable with Alyssia, who provided options and renderings to depict what the rooms would look like when complete. Alyssia listened to our likes and dislikes and presented us with options, which further enhanced her understanding of our tastes.

The reveal of the final project, despite seeing the progress daily, was breathtaking and it was exactly what we were looking for. As one passerby said about the house “I just love this! We decided that this is like a Hallmark movie house. They could film everything here.”

Without hesitation, we would recommend Alyssia and the Home Comfort team along with Native TimberWorks, to do a renovation or new build.
